Notorious POD, Ep 34: Musings – Answering Listener Questions on Buyer Agency

Musings is a solo version of the Notorious POD in which I think out loud about issues in the economy, technology, and real estate industry.

In this episode, I answer questions from a listener/reader from Ep. 33 with Jim Klinge, where we had discussed his predictions about the end of buyer agency from market forces, rather than from regulation or lawsuits. A listener, Hilary, had written some great and detailed questions and I thought it worthwhile to give my thoughts on them.

Managing Partner of 7DS Associates, and the grand poobah of this here blog. Once called "a revolutionary in a really nice suit", people often wonder what I do for a living because I have the temerity to not talk about my clients and my work for clients. Suffice to say that I do strategy work for some of the largest organizations and companies in real estate, as well as some of the smallest startups and agent teams, but usually only on projects that interest me with big implications for reforming this wonderful, crazy, lovable yet frustrating real estate industry of ours.

  1. The VA buyer can’t pay an agent. It’s a non allowable. Some of the fastest growing markets in the country are supported by Veterans or active duty military with entitlements. It will be interesting to see how these specific transient markets adjust. The govt says a VA buyer can pay a lender a certain percentage but not a realtor. #lobbying
